It’s hard to believe, we’re struggling to believe it ourselves but here we are. Week one, our first stop in Umina. We have envisaged to stay in free camps or national parks at least one third of the time however didn’t want to jump in at the deep end on the first week. Fate, it would seem is not without sense of humor.
We chose to stay the first week in NRMA’s Ocean Beach Resort. It is large and has heaps of things for the kids to do. Playgrounds, swimming pools (yes, plural), water park, jumping pillows and not to mention there’s a gorgeous surf beach, skate park and massive playground in walking distance. The idea was for the girls to have fun and us to regroup and catch up our sleep. Ha! So, this is what really happened.
Week one and we’ve already been tested to quite an extent. Firstly, we set out on the hottest day of the summer and the mercury soared around 40oC throughout the day and wouldn’t respite before dinner time. Of course our air-con had to break on that exact day. Seb impro fixed it so we could sleep. Go Seb!
Day two, insane winds and to boot I managed to accidentally lock the keys inside the caravan. Yay me!
Day three, the rains have started and by now it looks like we’re in the middle of a massive storm. Luck will have it, that our site happens to be the on the lowest point in the whole caravan park. We have our own private pond and the ducks think it’s the bee’s knees. LOL
We decided to postpone our departure to Entrance due to rain bucketing down the entire time and we just couldn’t be bothered with packing down the caravan in this glorious weather.
Zero kitesurfing up until now and Seb and I are massively kite deprived. On the upside, the NRMA manager kindly offered to refund us for the deluged part of the stay. So lovely of them. 😊
