Week #28 – DAINTREE FOREST

When in Rome, do as the Romans do; when in tropical Queensland, go see Daintree Forest and Cape Tribulation. It is an absolute must see.

We visited Daintree forest for a couple of nights and stayed at Cape Tribulation Camping. Such a cool spot! It’s right on the beach and the cafe attached to the reception building is a life saver. Morning barista made coffee. What could be better?!

After morning coffee, we visited Daintree Discovery Centre and had a guided tour amongst the tree canopies. Gorgeous trees, hordes of birds and swirling butterflies, awesome exhibits and tons to learn about this amazing habitat. Hands down to the team, we loved the adventure.

When visiting this part of Queensland, one has to go on a Croc Tour as well, right? We did and we saw some beauties, either sunning on the beach or graciously (and ominously) floating in the water. Both girls were buzzing with excitement, and to be honest, even we didn’t keep a completely cool hat on either.

Cooling off, we grabbed some locally made ice-cream at Floravilla! We couldn’t decide on the flavour so we took five. The jury is still out on which one is the best. We need to go back and try them again.

Watched the sunset at the beach and had an unusual visitor. A cassowary walked out of the jungle and casually strolled past us. What a sight!

They served delicious pizza for dinner at the caravan park cafe and we couldn’t be happier. I was too tired to cook and we hadn’t had pizza in a while. Win-win.
