WEEK #20 - ELLIOTT HEADS

We don’t plan too far ahead. We don’t like to.

If life on the road has taught us anything, this would be it. With the bushfires, floods, Covid-19 lockdowns and broken legs, all pouring our way this year, we think easy going does it best. One step, or stop, at a time.

So during our stay at Maroochydore, somebody hinted that there is a great kite spot at Elliott Heads and a great site for kids too. And without a second thought, we up and decided to check it out.

WOW! What an amazing place!

The shallow lagoon is covered with water only during high tide and creates flat water, great for kitesurfing and kids to splash around. It was windy the whole time we were there and we went down to the water every chance we got.

This area – we hear – is also fantastic for fishing and we bought the girls some fishing rods. They never caught anything but it doesn’t matter. They had fun. 😊

We rigged our kite gear so we could take the girls for a spin. We tied a rope to the body board so we can tow it behind and we also kited with the girls standing on the board with us. With flat water, knee deep, this was the perfect playground.

Here are the links to the short videos we made with the girls kitesurfing with us.

This perfect playground also proved to be a perfect spot for me to get back on the water. After suffering a tibia plateau fracture three months before, I felt it was time. I got myself a knee brace and gave it a go. What a fantastic feeling it is to be back. I am currently just going to-and-fro but who cares! I’M BACK!!!!
