WEEK 18 – CALOUNDRA

WOOHOO!!!! HERE WE GO!

The travel ban has now fully lifted, save for the few areas in north Queensland that we’re hoping will follow suit soon. They’re too stunning to miss, not to mention have some of THE best kite spots on this side of Australia.

So now has come to start planning again. Restrictions have eased, albeit some precautionary measures are still in place like social distancing and my wild guess is that the caravan parks are dealing with limited capacity allowances thus getting a spot somewhere you like might me a hassle but we’re all right with that too. As long as we can move north, we’re ok.

Happy Valley, Caloundra

We were blessed to be stuck in such an amazing spot. We were treated well, we lacked for nothing – apart from more frequent kite sessions that is – and it gave me the perfect conditions for my recovery.

It was sad to say goodbye to people, with whom we spent the last two months and they have become very dear to us. The girls will miss the dogs the most, they’ve become very attached to them. But the show, and the travel, must go on.

We decided to go to Caloundra for a few days and stay at a friend Chloe Barret’s place. She’s a fellow kiter, kite instructor, adventure sports enthusiast and not to mention one heck of a gal. We met her whilst she was working at #australiankitesurfari in north Queensland. Remember the mention of THE best kite spots? Well, in our opinion, Surfari is one that should be on your bucket list.

It was so great to catch up with another kiter. Chloe is also a PT and training to be a sports physio so she gave me a good plan to follow in order to fast track my recovery. I would have done physio treatments but whilst living on the road, that seems impossible, so she was a godsend. I’m excited to go back on the water although I know that the road ahead is still long. #ChloeBarretTraining #kitethrills 💪

Our girls had a go at boxing. Vanea's got a mean right hook. 😁🤟🥊
Vanea's got a mean right hook. That's my girl! :)

The girls are loving this time. We take them to playgrounds, and on walks, and to the beach, and we even took them to the library where they have raided the shelves with new material to watch and read. I guess they were pretty fed up with same old. The good part is, that the library has branches along our route so we get to hold on to the 35 items they borrowed – yes, you read right - and return them as we travel on.

Lots of reading to do. Looking forward to it. 😊🤓📖📚
