MIDDLE ROCK BEACH

Whilst staying in Wauchope we got a whiff of Southerly and eager for a session (as we always are) we headed down to Middle Rock Beach. This one was advised by a fellow kiter and is frequented by locals. It is a big swell beach so be prepared to curve and carve. 😊🌊🏄‍♀️

Middle Rock Beach is in Lake Cathie, Central Coast NSW and is accessible via Middle Rock Road where the small parking just above the beach offers massive convenience, but should it be full there is another one just down the road. That day offered Southerly winds so it was a great spot to start from. 👍

The beach is curbed to the South with jagged rocks that stick out of the sand so it would be a world of hurt should you venture there and as mentioned the swell is quite big and we wouldn’t recommend it to wave-kite beginners. LOL, it turned out we were one of them too so we can attest to the rough and tough school it put us through. We’ve got loads to learn before we go back to this one. However, setting that aside it’s a great kite beach.

As we arrived, the tide was low and presented us with minor swell that curled up and the girls had a blast with body boarding and later on investigated the aforementioned rocks. Soon after the tide rolled in, the big swell appeared and the girls got chased away from the area. Overall, girls did have fun for the short time it lasted. They found some kid company and there was a fellow kiter with the friendliest dog ever that hit it off with one of our girls. They all bawled when it was time to go home.
