Hargraves Beach a.k.a. Norah Head

Hargraves Beach is a hop-skip-and a jump North of The Entrance; NSW. Looking at the Kiteboarding Map you will probably find it under Norah Head Beach but we wanted to be more specific. Amazing spot for NE winds. It is very open to the ocean and has plenty of set-up space. The reef to the North breaks up the swell thus you can have flat water in the lagoon, great for beginners, whilst more experienced riders can ride on the outer side. Take care about that reef though. There’s not a lot of locals that pursue this sport so you can expect plenty of room in the bay.

There is a “sister-beach” just North of Hargraves called Budgewoi Beach and in combo these work great for downwinders. Although, we heard somewhere there were shark sightings reported in that area.

The carpark nearby is very convenient however, the locals advised us to be cautious when leaving your kite gear in the car as there have been reports of theft. ☹

The beach is shallow and the girls entertained themselves with digging pools in the sand. I can’t report any other attractions but with kids you don’t need much. Small swell in the lagoon dissuaded them from either swimming or body-boarding although it would have been fun. In the beaches defence, they were a bit over splashing as they spent the morning in the pool at the campsite.

The beach is definitely kid and kite friendly and we would recommend it. 😊
