FARMSTAY AT KEPPEL SANDS – Week #42

After a brief stay at Yeppoon, gorgeous Yeppoon, we headed south some more. Every now and again we go for change of scenery. What better thing than a farm!

We camped at @JunabelMiniatures at Coowonga (just outside Keppel Sands) that is famous for ….(drumroll)… MINIATURE HORSES! Yep, you heard right. Although they look similar, miniature horses differ from ponies in the sense that they resemble horses, but much smaller obviously, whereas ponies are stockier. I didn’t know that before either.

This farm is a proud owner of about 30 odd miniature horses along with goats and chickens. And a few dogs of course. What kind of a farm doesn’t have dogs.

We grabbed the girls and took them to experience a lil’bit of farm air. LOL

Over the next few days, the girls were chasing chickens, collected eggs, milked goats, patted dogs, fed the animals and bottle-fed baby goats. It was amazing! They LOVED every second of it.

It got even better when a fellow travelling family whom we met at Clairview pulled over. The kids huddled together and were inseparable for the next few days. We hear they’re going to Tannum Sands too so we’re looking forward to seeing friends together again. More wonderful memories to be made.

Gorgeous view of the farm. The narrow road leads around the pond where we saw ducks and other water birds.

Mini horses!! Not ponies, mini horses. Ponies are stockier in build and have thicker manes. Mini horses look like, well, mini horses.

This was Vanea's favourite chicken for some reason. She named it Bucksheeba. I know, I'm as confused as you are but both she and the chicken had fun.

Feeding the baby goats. They are so cute!

More baby goats to be fed.

Feeding time! The kids had an absolute blast and it was terrific to see them so engaged.

Brushing the horses was part of it. If only my girls were as alacritous to brush their own hair.

Milking the goats. Yep, it was a first for me too. But after a while we got a hang of it and did a good job. The milk tastes fantastic! What a difference from store-bought!

The morning mob. LOL

Dropped to Emu Park for a quick visit. Stunning beach and a lovely park with playground where the girls blew off some steam.

Gorgeous beach at Emu Park. We sat down and enjoyed our coffee whilst soaking up the view. We never tire of the ocean.

Now that's new! We've never seen coffee cups like this! Eco, biodegradable, no plastic lid but instead you drink out of the hole in the flap. Thumbs up from us!
