Someone pinch me as I must be dreaming.
I might have mentioned before but I never like doing too much investigation about a place we’re about to visit. It leaves me in suspense and dispels any possible false expectations. I love the feeling when we drive up and the view is laid before us. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. And here we were, what a beach, what a view, what a fabulous little spot! Loved it at first sight.
The area is most famous for the dugong sanctuary, they are often seen grazing in the shallows. We tried to catch a glimpse but in vain. Some of our neighbours saw them though so we are hopeful to see them next time we visit.
The caravan park is right on the beach so we again had the pleasure of watching the sunrise out of our bedroom. Ahhh, the hard life again.
The kids had an absolute ball. The receding tide leaves behind big pools, teeming with little critters. The girls found friends and they were inseparable. They made a great team discovering every little scuttling thing in the sand whilst the adults enjoyed a few hours of quiet. It was awesome.
Off to Yeppoon next. The Esplanade has an array of public water parks, playgrounds, skate park and even a swimming pool. Sounds like heaven for kids. Not to mention the wind is supposed to pick up again and we’ve kitesurfed at Yeppoon beach before. Fingers crossed we might do it again.
