ALVA, NORTH QLD - Week #36

luckaslatner

Alva is a cute little patch of houses, just outside of Ayr, QLD (pronounced same as 'air' but for some reason had to spell it the other way). We stayed at Alva Beach Caravan Park and so we had the beach and playground just around the corner. The wind picked up and we kited pretty much every day.

Work, school, kite, playground, sleep, repeat. Bliss.

Alva has a massive tidal inlet and perpetually shifting sands have created a peninsula that breaks the ocean swell. Flat water, plenty of fish, locals say there’s no crocs or sharks nor turtles within the bay buy hey, one is never absolutely certain what swims in the water, and stunning nature all around. What a treat!

Not all was fantastic though. I got a nasty toothache and when one is travelling these things can really present a problem. Luckily, Ayr - again, pronounced as 'air' - is just around the corner and I was able to find a good dentist to help me out. Phew! Thanks doc!

We are Windchasers, a kiteboarding family who travel around Australia to find new and exciting kite spots, we have two small kids that we like take to the beach with us. Juggling kite and family can sometimes be quite challenging so this is us reporting what we find and how good it was for both kids and us.
